- Actually, I think it's more like one of those things where it's the images
- in the movies and tv shows which determine what you think the fangs are.
- When I was younger (about seven or eight) I too thought that vampire fangs
- were hollow, because all I could see on victims' throats were two tiny
- little holes, which meant that the blood was taken through the two holes.
-
- But later, realizing that it would be damned difficult to fit an entire
- four quarts of blood through two tiny holes, I didn't know what to think.
-
- Essentially, A creature that does feed on blood tearing out a chunk of
- someone's neck and lapping up the pooling blood may seem innefficient, but
- look at most other predators which take on prey their own size or larger.
- Unless they attack in a group, there is definately going to be waste. How
- many times have you seen carcasses in the wild that presumably have been
- attacked by a single animal and was anywhere nearly completely eaten.
-
- Also, the tearing open of the throat would make it seem more like a wild
- animal was on the prowl, diverting attention from a suave young man
- whose teeth are picture perfect, unless he gets upset.
