- Nope, the scene in the asylum, where Mina is placed in 'complete' safety,
- completely reminded me of the place where Lector was kept at the hospital
- in _Lambs_. Especially the Large square centrally located, office which
- was entombed in iron bars, i.e. the doctor locked in the cage.
- I am sure that these small references are pointedly designed to appeal
- to _Lambs_ fans. No doubt, a popular movie, which could help sell a few
- tickets.

- As for the rest of the movie and cast, I thought it, they were terrific. A
- few of the special effects, left something to the imagination, however I think
- that is how it should be anyway. Feed me a thought and I will give it life.
- This is the beauty of the cinema in my mind.
-
- One thing I found to be rather unsettling was the use of religious artifacts
- as weapons against the vampires. In all cases I remember that the vampires
- were not truly harmed by these weapons (crosses as I recall) but the vampires
- did seem to be put off by them (in a general sense not driven away)
- I wonder what Van Helsing meant at the end when he said, "We have been slaves
- to religion." or some such thing I don't quite recall. Did he mean that
- he did not believe in it anymore or was it just that the vampires were not
- effected by it? I know that this topic has been pretty well picked apart on
- Alt.vampyres and I don't mean to say that crosses work don't work blah whatever
- the argument. I just wonder what the references in Drac meant?

- I liked the ending also, I think that the idea that Dracula was not to live,
- however he did not, either deserve to be slaughtered without thought was
- well conveyed, although they didn't have the same feeling about destroying
- vampires early in the film. It seemed that Love conquers all. debate debate
