- I have a bizzare problem I have not been able to trace for a long time.
- I am totally at a loss to explain this. We are currently using NIS on
- a mixture of Unix boxes. Our NIS Master server is a SparcServer 4/3xx with
- SunOS 4.1.3. We have a single NIS Slave server that is a SparcStation IPX
- running SunOS 4.1.1. Here is the problem, the netgroup, netgroup.byuser and
- netgroup.byhost maps will not push to the slave server. All the other maps
- work just fine. The message I get back is that the slave server did not
- respond. Does anyone know what might be going on?
-
- If I manually do a ypxfr for the maps from the slave server I get this message:
-
- "Can't get master of netgroup. Reason: no such map in server's domain."
-
- but the map is clearly on the master. I can ls it, and any machine that is
- bound to the master server can do a ypcat netgroup.
-
- Any help would be appreciated.

- Perplexed.
