  12. A friend of mine from the University of California at Riverside has
  13. sent the following report to me:

  15. <   I have told you that there is a whole PDP 8 forsale here at the
  16. < UCR surplus eqpt sale, havnt I?
  17. <   It has a 9 track, and a removable disk pack, plus some other
  18. < stuff.  They are asking 25,000 for the whole thing, but I have also
  19. < gotten stuff they were asking 2,000 for 200, so I am sure they would
  20. < be willing to bargan.
  21. <   It is quite a large piece of eqpt, it is over 6 feet tall, and
  22. < I am sure it is also quite heavy.  But, I also suspect that if you
  23. < got it all that would be needed to make it go is to give it power.

  25. I gather that the UCR surplus outlet has a sale the first Tuesday of
  26. every month, and I'd lay even odds that the prices they list are the
  27. original purchase prices that the UCR paid for the equipment when new.
  28. Technically, their sales are by auction, and I suspect that the minimum
  29. bid they'll accept drops from month to month until they get rid of a
  30. piece of equipment.
