- Why not. Hey people, just imagine trying to CODE anything on this...
- Both had a Z80 for the CPU. I think. I only knew BASIC at this point, ML
- looked like deep magic to me back then...
- As i recall, the stock '80 came with a whopping 4k of ROM and 1k or RAM.
- Yes. 1k. This is not a typo. And yes, it was small.
- The '81 (marketed in the US by Timex as the Timex/Sinclair 1000) was a bit
- less hellish. it had, um 8k ROM and 4k RAM.
- Both could be expanded. Sorta. I mean, 16k seemed like an infinite amount
- back then, and WAS for a machine like that...
- I still have nightmares about that flat plastic "keyboard" and the twenty
- different cursors indicating which of too many modes the keyboard would be
- interpreted... Eeeek.
-
- Still, what would you expect for ~$100?
-
- >(should i direct followups to alt.comp.old.fogeys? :-)
-
- WW> you should if you can correctly answer the question above :)
- I feel really old now.
-
- BTW, i don't think i *ever* saw anything like a ZX8x demo. Not even close.
- (Demos in the sense used in this group were an unknown concept back then...
- if i recall correctly, the C64 was the cradle of the hacker-demo, and you
- know, the VIC-20 looked real good when i had the '80...)
