- Alas, I too cannot run the "LSD - Jesus on E's" demo properly. In fact, I
- haven't had this much trouble with any other recent demos.
-
- What I have: A 68000 A2000, KS 1.3, 2 MB fast, 1 MB chip, A2090a HD, and an
- external Applied Engineering High-Density drive. The Agnus
- defaults to NTSC, but I regularly use BPD or degrader.
-
- Things I've tried:
-
- 1) Degrader (50Hz, 50HzSystem, SurviveResets)
- 2) Degrader (50Hz, 50HzSystem, SurviveResets), Killsys
- 3) Degrader (50Hz, 50HzSystem, rename DF2: to DF1:, SurviveResets)
- 4) Degrader (50Hz, 50HzSystem, NoFastMem, HalfMegChip, SurviveResets)
- 5) BPD, Killsys
-
- (note: "Killsys" is the button of the same name in "Xcopy III". When that is
- selected and Xcopy is quit, the system reboots so hard that I get a Workbench
- hand even though I have an autobooting hard drive. It seems to make the hard
- drive temporarily disabled. Also, any PAL boot tag in use stays in memory, so
- whatever disk I boot with will be in PAL.)
-
- (note 2: the external floppy is DF2: on an A2000.)
-
- All of the above had the following symptoms: I put in disk 1, then disk 2 in
- the extra drive as requested. "Loading". It takes for-bloody-ever, with once
- in a while the background doing a short rainbow-flash (it does this at least 5
- times, each time separated by much disk-gronking). I would say that the entire
- disk could have been read at least 4 times in the amount of time the loading
- took. Finally, I get some action, with the title, credits, music etc. Graphics
- soon follow, but the thing crashes before much can happen. Also, at any time,
- including during the load, pressing the joystick fire button shows a status
- line in the centre of the screen, showing PP, SP, and some other stuff.
-
- 6) Degrader (50Hz, 50HzSystem, HalfMegChip, SurviveResets), external drive
- unplugged. --> This worked, sort of. Seemed like it wasn't
- performing properly, and (as I recall) the "interference-pattern
- circles" never happened. Also, it would merrily access whatever
- disk I had in the drive, seeming not to care what it was, and
- certainly not loading anything useful off of it. The demo didn't
- crash, but it definitely seemed crippled.
-
- --> What is wrong with this? I think I got it off of amiga.physik.unizh.ch.
- (I haven't been able to check since; that site has been too busy).
-
- --> Any help is appreciated!
