- Depends on your size. Silhouetts has some nice things, and there are
- plenty of large-sized providers of wedding gowns if you're looking to spend
- the normal amount for a wedding gown plus some (upwards of $700). You
- should get a Bride Magazine, and look specifically for the large-sized
- providers, then look where they might sell their gowns in your area... or
- try the yellow pages. I was surprised when I checked out the yellow pages
- in the Boston area.
-
- I, however, did something a little more to my style for my wedding gown.
- We were having a slightly off-the-wall situation anyway, and so I went to a
- fabric store, found the fabric and the general pattern I couldn't live
- without, and then went to a great seamstress. We consulted for awhile and
- she made some adjustments in style, and I ended up with a cloud pink (the
- most pale pink you can imagine) confection with a white lace-covered
- bodice, tea-length, low-cut back, and very-well fitted dress I could have
- ever wanted. The material was very thin taffeta.
-
- I recommend having something else made before you have your wedding dress
- done, however, so you can get to know your seamstress well...
