- I know of two such collections:
- The first is called "The Barney Love Tapes" and is a 7" record put
- out by Vinyl Communications Records of San Diego. I have never heard
- the record but I suspect that this might be what you are referring to.
-
- The second one I have been told is far superior to TBLT, but it is
- immensely more obscure and you probably won't be able to get it. It's
- called "The Tube Bar", and it's a 12" record of a bunch of crank calls
- to a bar (the Tube Bar) in the DC vicinity. The guy who keeps answering
- the phone is really gullible at first, but when he figures out that he
- has been taken, he launches into barrages of epithets like you've
- NEVER heard. It was put out by the Teen Beat label of Washington DC (or
- maybe Richmond VA).
-
- And while I'm on this note, I'll make another plug for the book "Pranks!"
- because one of the interviews is with this guy Mal Sharpe (some of you
- may have heard of him) and they provide a transcription of one of the
- funniest things I've ever read, he and a friend go into neighborhood
- businesses and confuse the hell out of people, just like some people
- on this newsgroup were talking about with the conference-call pranks...
- check it out...
