- Process Church (Taken mostly from the book,"Apocalypse Culture II")
-
- The theology of the Process church was basically a gnostic one. The great
- gods of their theology were Jesus, Jehovah, Lucifer and Satan. They beleived
- that everyone contained different aspects of these gods to a greater or
- lesser degree. They also had many apocalyptic prophecies.
-
- Robert DeGrimson, leader of The Process for most of its short history, preached
- that we should all strive to have as much of the Jesus aspect as possible,
- to create a harmonious world. He published many books espousing his philosophy,
- such as _The Gods and THeir People_ and _Humanity is the Devil_.
- His style has been compared to Yeats' _A Vision_ and Loyd Wrights' _Mobocracy_.
- The church broke up into two factions when DeGrimson divorced his wife in
- 1974; it is no longer active. It has been postulated that the Process
- Church started out as a branch of the German Democratic party, a neo-NAZI
- european party. While its rituals, logos, and certain aspects of its philosophy
- do seem somewhat like that of the NAZIs; it did not have the negative
- anti-semetic aspect of the NAZI's; many of its members were of jewish
- descent. (Some of the more obvious NAZI-like aspects were thier gothic type
- ritual, elitist gnostic philosophy, and swastica-type emblem {four "P's" in
- with a common round piece}.Their "uniforms" were black robes;satanic looking)
-
- The Process was the subjetc of several "exposes" by fundamentalist christian
- writers trying to establish some sort of Satanic Conspiracy in league with
- child-pornographers, "snuff cults" and drug dealers. All of the "evidence"
- was hearsay and from unknown informants. It can be safely disregarded as in
- the realm of "conspiracy theory".
- Some of the Inflammatory books using this approach are; Maury Terry's "Ultimate
- Evil" and Ed Sanders "The Family: The story of Charles Mansons Dune Buggy
- Attack Battalion" (The last title is a good indication of the mentality
- of the author...) Might make good titallating reading, but should be viewed
- as fiction.
-
- Conspiracy theory aside, Mr DeGrimson is presently living in a large metro
- area (unmentioned by my source), and is listed in the white pages of the
- phone Book there...
