  14. When I read your original posting, I was first amused, then very
  15. saddened.  You seem to think (from your first item) that the
  16. government is responsible for the values of your family.  You, sir,
  17. have that responsibility.  Every family is faced with that
  18. responsibility.  If your children become homosexual because of what
  19. they learned in school, you have not done a good job of teaching them
  20. your values, or they had that proclivity from the start.  Or are you
  21. suggesting that you can handle it, but the rest of the people,
  22. sheeplike and unaware, cannot?  A little arrogance goes a long way.

  29. I do feel that the government should not undermine the values of my family. I agree
  30. that it is my responsibility to teach those values. I guess the point I am tring to 
  31. make is that the radical left does not share my values, further more I often wonder
  32. what values they do have. When I was a young man in the sixties, I was concidered 
  33. liberal. My values haven't changed much over the years and now people call me a
  34. conservative. 
  35. One of the most destrubing comments that I have read regarding my post went something like
  36. this.
  37.     "We are a people living by the rule of law, not a people sharing common values"
  38.  
  39. The point of this comment and yours is that morality has no place in society.  That I 
  40. have no right to expect society to have a shared set of values, and that each of us is 
  41. on our own, and anything goes.  Well you are proably right, first we took God out of 
  42. public life, now it is time to take moral values out of public life.  I am simply 
  43. expressing the opinion that this is a mistake.
