- ... Standing at the edge of the forest, he looked out into the clearing.
- He dropped his pack, leaned back against a tree and closed his eyes
- for a moment..
- ...remembering..
-
- How long had it been? Weeks? Months?? Lifetimes???
-
- The traveller walked to the center of the clearing.. smelling the Autumn
- in the air. The trees were showing their colour.. reds, browns, golds..
- The air had a nice crisp clean smell to it, and he took in a long
- deep breath.. Across the field was a trail head, he approached
- it, cautiously.. at the top he could see the trail winding down through
- the woods, down the other side of the hill.
-
- That was not the way...
-
- He returned, retrieved his pack and walked along the edge of
- the clearing. At the far northern end was another trail, much less
- traveled, but still visible..
-
- This was the way..
-
- A few minutes down the trail, the traveller stopped, a strange feeling
- had come over him.. A feeling he had not felt in.. how long? He took
- a seat under a large pine and rested..
-
- This place.. he was back.. how? He didn't plan it.. But his
- wanderings just seemed to bring him back.. He tried to remember
- the last time.. he opened his mind allowing the memories to return
- .. no, not that one, that one would have to wait..
-
- .. A castle, yes there was discussion of building a castle..
- Had it been built? Was it inhabitited?
-
- His mind opened more, a name entered.. ..Salter.. He remembered, his
- advice.. it had helped.. through a rough time..
- Though he had shed his knighthood, and became the traveller..
-
- Reaching into his pack, he removed a small object.. a silver and pearl
- fish,... not a fish..
-
- a dolphin..
