  28. Seriously:  I would say that the direct and honest approach would
  29. be best, though NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, it's probably gonna be
  30. messy---a specific and definite date would help prevent the soured
  31. relationship from dragging on, slowly decaying like a dead trout
  32. on the beach of a poisoned lake, getting more and more intolerable
  33. with each day.  Regarding preparations for the imminent breakup:
  34. Again, honesty and directness.  State your case in plain language
  35. and tell your S.O. exactly WHY you are ending the relationship,
  36. and by when; if you are truly serious about calling a halt to
  37. the whole thing, then tell her flat-out that because of such-
  38. and-so reasons, you are throwing the key into the waterbucket and
  39. calling it quits.
