  24. I've always thought of marriage as a purely legal arrangement.  Now that one
  25. can enforce child support and other legal obligations on a partner without
  26. benefit of marriage, I'm not sure how much importance that license retains.
  27. We all live longer, whereas "til death do us part" used to mean only 20 years
  28. or so, or until the woman died in childbirth, etc.

  34. quite a lot of time arguing over who got the copper trivets, etc.;  stupid,

  52. IMHO, people expect too much.  A good marriage is a truckload of work and
  53. effort and never a day off.  But if you're in love, you'll do it gladly.
