- Sorry, but I can't. The only good, logical reason I know of is LOVE. But I
- think, and know of, lots of people who marry because it's the thing to do.

- I've always thought of marriage as a purely legal arrangement. Now that one
- can enforce child support and other legal obligations on a partner without
- benefit of marriage, I'm not sure how much importance that license retains.
- We all live longer, whereas "til death do us part" used to mean only 20 years
- or so, or until the woman died in childbirth, etc.

- Well, disentangling is still difficult. When my ex and I parted ways, we spent
- quite a lot of time arguing over who got the copper trivets, etc.; stupid,
- although we were never married.

- Why do men find this so offensive? Just curious! :)

- Because society frowns on people who ignore convention.
-
- IMHO, people expect too much. A good marriage is a truckload of work and
- effort and never a day off. But if you're in love, you'll do it gladly.
