- One of my personal favorite basslines around is "Heart of the Sunrise" by
- Yes. In nine blissful minutes, Squire goes through every trick of the bass
- trade: There are typical, frantic, Yes-ish lines (such as in the intro to
- the song), a beautiful, high-register, sing-song line, a rock-jazz bridge,
- and plenty of other stuff to blow your socks off.
- Squire admits to writing this one with Steve Howe (the guitarist) in
- order to achieve a more guitar-esqe melody line with the bass.
- This is one of the first basslines that I ever learned to play. After I
- saw it played in concert, I ran home, sat in front of my stereo for days,
- and studied each riff intensely.
- In my opinion, this is one bassline that certainly deserves a ranking
- among the best.
