- >Driving to work yesterday, I heard a song on the radio. A friend and I were
- >trying to figure out who sang the song. It was redone by someone who's name
- >is something like "Mary-anne Rush" and the song has the following lyrics:
-
- > Just call me angel of the morning, baby.
- > Just touch my lips before you kiss me...
-
- It was "Angel of the Morning" sung by Merillee Rush in 1968.
-
- I don't know who wrote it, but I think I remember it being by someone
- who was later a little more famous. One of those 1960's writers like
- Laura Nyro, Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, the short
- Williams guy whose first name I can't remember, Kris Kristofferson,
- or somebody like that.
-
- The sad/bittersweet theme sounds like something directly out of the
- Michael Nesmith songbook (Different Drum, JoAnne, Listen to the Band)
- but I don't think this one is his.
-
- Anybody know?
