- Yikes. I wasn't flaming Sho for his criticism of House of Euphoria.
- My 'what did you want to do, shoot up heroin in front of everybody
- and run around naked' was just a way of asking why he felt so
- oppressed by the cops, who didn't seem to be doing much of anything.
- I didn't see any of the 'nasty girl' goings-on but we got there
- kind of late.
-
- When everybody was jumping up on stage, the ravers were kind of being
- obnoxious... follow the leader type of thing. If I were
- renting those lights and music hall I wouldn't want a mob of people
- tromping all over the cords and exceeding the weight capacity of the
- stage. That was why they were 'rushing up to the stage as if to
- prevent a riot'; the reason the power went out to all the front amps
- during Moby's set was because someone tripped on a power cable. And
- I was right there by the stage; the cops didn't do ANYTHING until the
- rave security motioned for them to help clear people off. It didn't
- put that much of a damper on things, anyway.
-
- I think you guys have really built up this romanticized image of what
- a "REAL RAVE" is supposed to be like and you are going to be
- disappointed by everything that doesn't live up to this 'secret
- intimate love-sex-drugs hippie dance fest' ideal. I'm not saying that
- cops all around made it better, but considering that they were there,
- it seemed like a damn good time was had by most everyone else, and like
- I said before, it was obvious that a lot of people were tripping and
- there was some pot smoking along the walls too, and the cops and security
- turned a blind eye to that, which is far better than what one would have
- expected. Really, this whole 'big brother' thing is a bit far-fetched.
- If it was that bad, it would have ended up like Grave. If it was all too
- above-ground for you, throw your own rave. Doesn't somebody on alt.rave
- have a .sig that goes 'how many ravers does it take to change a light
- bulb? a hundred, one to change the light bulb and 99 to whine about how
- much better the last one was'. Well, imHo we are lucky to have what we
- got and since it was good and fun for 99% of the people there, why bitch
- about how it wasn't the way you think a REAL RAVE is supposed to be like?
- Sure, it wasn't a step forward for raves, but it sure as hell was better
- than sitting on my ass in Columbus all night.
-
- Humbly,
- Mike B :)
