- Ack! How can you say that?

- Personally, I would rather have it all legal than get arrested and
- fined like the poor kids at Grave last month. I don't see what the
- big thrill is in taking one's chances... I mean, if I'm going to
- drive 2 hours to arrive just as the party is shut down for illegal
- assembly of (how many people were there? about 2,000 is my guesstimate)
- with no permits or someone smoking a joint or whatever, I'd rather
- not go. Who cares if it wasn't your idea of an 'authentic' rave?
- I'd say it was the best rave Ohio has ever seen, the lights and
- atmosphere (people-wise) were fantastic, the dj's were great, the
- Moby show was incredible despite his tantrum and the fact that he
- wasn't really playing live, and everyone seemed to be having a super time.
- So what if it was in the downtown music hall with cops at the doors?
-
- >We walk in the door... Two cops. Walk up the stairs...
- >Another cop. Walk around the room... a cop by every door.
- >Two cops manning the bathrooms.
- >Needless to say, this put a damper on the evening.
-
- What were you planning on doing, shooting up heroin and running around
- naked? Didn't you see how many people were tripping, jogging around,
- hugging each other? Did the cops do anything to spoil any of that?
- All they did was move people off the stage, and that was only after
- they were asked to by the rave's own security. I smelled pot at one
- point. The cops just stood around, and one was even bobbing his head
- to the music. They seemed to be enjoying the lights and laser, and
- probably felt relieved that for once in their careers they got to patrol
- a huge party without having to bust it up for alcohol-related fights,
- sexual assaults, etc.
-
- >Does it ever get this bad in other parts of the country, or
- >am I just doomed for living in the midwest? *sigh*
-
- Jeez, what's the big deal? It was great; lighten up.
