  22.        In Ohio the State Patrol uses one frequency for the base, and 
  23. another one for the mobiles.  Many states use this for their state 
  24. patrol/police.  If you are listening to just the base frequency that is 
  25. why you never hear any mobiles.

  27.          Secondly, mobiles have a much shorter range to a scanner antenns. 
  28. I have found I can only hear a mobile if it is within say... 2-3 miles of 
  29. where I'm at.   And since typically OSP only patrols state highways and 
  30. interstates outside of any municipal location, my being in the city isn't 
  31. much help, since all mobiles typically patrol a bit far from my place.
