- In Ohio the State Patrol uses one frequency for the base, and
- another one for the mobiles. Many states use this for their state
- patrol/police. If you are listening to just the base frequency that is
- why you never hear any mobiles.

- Secondly, mobiles have a much shorter range to a scanner antenns.
- I have found I can only hear a mobile if it is within say... 2-3 miles of
- where I'm at. And since typically OSP only patrols state highways and
- interstates outside of any municipal location, my being in the city isn't
- much help, since all mobiles typically patrol a bit far from my place.
