- [ Redlin just got thrown into a wooden building. ]
-
- Splinters and chunks of wood lie scattered about the unmoving, smoking
- shape on the ground. The small life that had lived in soporiphic bliss in
- this old building emerged as the dust and debris settled around the body
- lying on the ground, only to be scared back into hiding when that shape
- moved with a suddeness that defied the amount of pain that he must feel.
-
- Redlin slowly came to his feet, the sounds of battle strangly quiet,
- even though the combat waged in full fury around him. He looked around,
- his blurry vision and damaged hearing slowing healing themselves. The
- sight revealed to him was not overly pleasant, the large fire elemental had
- just immollated the strange elf from the Inn, and a large group of the
- earth elementals were pounding on the Inn's walls, threatening to smash
- them flat.
-
- He knew that the forces arrayed were not capable of winning this fight,
- even with his help, but the chances were much better with him there. He
- felt barely able to move, though. It was with a great feeling of
- trepidation that he came to this final statement, for the answer to that
- problem was as dangerous as was an assault on that fire elemental. He did
- not see any other alternatives, though.

- Redlin barely noticed this last message as the aches and pains of his
- body suddenly left him. He felt young and fresh and able to take on the
- world. Knowing that this was a lie, and that he was probably doing himself
- more severe damage by continuing just could not offset the terrible need
- of his new friends and the terrible confidence that the pain editor
- granted. Dimly, in the back of his mind, he hoped that Delaman's Ring
- would keep him alive long enough to finish the battle.
-
- The figure who stepped out of the building could not have been the
- Redlin Aaron Hawkwind who had been thrown across the plaza. No pain was
- evident in his movement and the anger etched deeply into his face was a
- terrible sight to behold.
-
- Roaring in challenge, Redlin moved across the plaza, his form a blur of
- movement that human eyes simply could not follow. With speed bordering on
- fantastic he ran toward the Inn, everything around him a study in slow
- motion or still life art. He saw the arms of the smaller earth elementals
- raise up for a third strike, and somewhere in his mind was wonder that the
- walls still stood.
-
- He reached the elemental battering rams, his anger an all consuming fury
- that lended him strength and determination beyond those of mortal ken. The
- first swing of his sword was of such speed that it left a black trail in
- the bright air, a trail extending in a near circle as his blade cleaved on
- of the elementals in twain and sliced the arm off another. The first
- elemental fell, breaking apart as it did so. The second seemed confused
- for its last few moments before Redlin cleaved it from crown to crotch.
-
- A faint, low-pitched hum could be felt as he dispatched the two
- elementals, and a faint black flame traced its way up and down the sword,
- eventually climbing up Redlin's arm. As the flame passed, blood vanished,
- and the torn tissue of his body could be seen to mend itself.
-
- During this process, Redlin had become still, staring at his hand as the
- wounds from his physical assault of the first elementals faded. A bright
- flash of fire brought his mind back to the present, and he narrowly avoided
- being thrown against another wall by leaping forward into one of the
- remaining earth elementals with such force that it was knocked from its
- feet into another of the creatures, starting a chain reaction that their
- slow reflexes were powerless to avoid.
-
- Redlin did not notice any of this, the flame had reminded him of his
- anger. His eyes narrowed as he watched the movements of the fire.
-

-
- He did not wait for a response as he leapt to his feet, a warcry
- escaping from his lips, and charged the personification of Fire.
