- Buildings flashing by, mere blurs.
- A wail of confused guards, trailing into the distance.
- One corner, left.
- Two corners, right, left.
-
- The speed.
- Exilirating, amazing, it had been years since speed like this had
- been seen in the city.
- Merchants in their stalls saw a form looking like a shining man,
- whizz past, leaving a sort of trail of light.
-
- Max smiled to himself. He loved the run. Among the CyberWarriors, he
- had been the second best at the run.

-
- "Bannen!"
-
- He stopped, quite suddenly, pulling a controlled skid of goodly
- proportions. It took him a full 20 feet of ground to stop.

- Max removed the tattered remains of the robe he had bought only an
- hour or so ago.
- His armor's solar plates extended, to provide more surface area to
- absorb sunlight, or indeed any light.
- He looked rather like a metallic peacock in some respects.
- The people that were in the streets were staring at him iin frank
- amazement.
-
- Max took an object off his belt, and placed it on the ground. The
- obeject looked like a small box of metal, but it quickly unfolded into
- a small upended spider-like shape, an began to glow.
-
- Max turned and walked over to a merchant's stall.
-
- "I need anything you've got with carbon in it, coal, turf, things like
- that."
-
- "Oh, indeed, y'lordship. I've a-got sumfink like that"
-
- The merchant sold Max a small ammount of turf, for a small ammount of
- gold.
-
- Max placed a piece of the turf in the legs of the device.
-
- There was a shining bright light. People gasped.
-
- The turf was gone, the solar plume refolded itself.

-
- The whole process had taken ten minutes.
- People were confused.
-
- 'Got to find the others'
-
- Max turned and began to run back to scene of the crime, at a much more
- normal pace.
-
- Later that day, there was a rumour that there was a new performance
- act in town, called the Shining Man.
