- Let's assume the worst case :
- 1) the husband has access to all phone company records
- 2) his friends at the phone company can get the relevant
- records for him, even if he is fired or his employer
- is warned of the problem
- 3) he is sufficiently abusive that even a restraining
- order might not provide sufficient security once
- he learns her whereabouts
-
- Under these circumstances, the only way I can see for the
- woman to obtain phone service without compromising her
- security, is to purchase a voice mailbox at a private
- answering service not affiliated with the phone company.
- Preferably one which receives thousands of calls a day.
- In case the phone records available to her husband also
- include records of all incoming calls and all digits dialed
- in the first N seconds of each outgoing call, then she should
- retreive all her messages from random payphones, and get the
- type of service where the mailbox is accessed by going through
- a human operator rather than dialing any codes.
