- This isn't completely true. Weld's balanced the budget mess Dukakis left him
- without raising taxes, at least partly through privatization. Both the
- Boston-based Pioneer Institute and the Reason Foundation were in on this. He
- also favors legalization of marijuana for medical use, which is the wedge issue
- against drug prohibition.

- I've heard that he supports that sort of environmental regulation, but not
- that he supports special rights for minorities. Even if he does, perhaps
- he'll be amenable to libertarians like the ones at Cato talking him out of
- it if he doesn't get alienated by such casual dismissals. Weld does support
- free trade, too.
