  25. heterosexual, then how could they contract HIV infection from the gay military

  27. the number of gays in the military to be fairly small, then the risk goes down even
  28. more.

  34. This is correct- that is because there is a distinct difference between
  35. HIV+ and AIDS in terms of stages.  Since gays were the first to be exposed
  36. and not know it, they are now appearing as the larger group with AIDS.  Remember
  37. there is a variable period in which after exposure/contraction of HIV you will
  38. suffer the consequences of AIDS and it appears to go from 5-12 years.  Now
  39. if a large number of heterosexuals were infected with HIV during 1985-1990,
  40. the appearance of AIDS then in the heterosexual population would start to climb
  41. between 1990 and 1997 for the 5 year group and between 1995 and 2002 for the
  42. 12 year group, with most cases appear in between these two ranges, probably
  43. 1995-1998. How many heterosexuals have been tested for HIV exposure?
