- The last time I looked at statistics, a good deal of murders were related
- to other crimes (robberies, etc.), and a good deal to domestic issues.
- There are, of course, some murders that I think are simply due to legitimate
- "insanity" (hell, for all we know it could be something organic like ACh
- imbalance in the brain, though I don't think it's anything that simplistic
- or we'd have found it). As population grows larger, we'll naturally see
- more and more of that.

- Actually, population is probably a significant factor; if for no other
- reason, some murderers kill more than one person (and it's not possible
- for a murder to kill less than one person), so on the average, assuming
- a fixed percentage of murderers per capita, you get more murders as the
- population increases. Plus which, as population increases, the percentage
- of murderers probably goes up as well, which means even more murders as
- population increases.
