- I hate to have to say this Ashley, but you started it.
- Look at your post which I was following up to:
-
- > The other thing I'm noticing about a number of the posts here is the
- >chest thumping. I'm *not* talking about anyone in particular, I don't want to
- >point any statements out, but I have noticed a lot of the descriptions and

-
- Now I didn't address this apparent nonsense at first because I
- assumed maybe that you were talking about some posts you read on a newsgroup
- other than alt.pagan. Or perhaps that that you subscribe to a private
- mailing list that sends you joyful, chest thumping articles about machine
- guns that none of the rest of us get to see. If those are not the
- case, then the only other possiblilities left are that:
-
- A) The posts you alluded to exist only in your mind.
- or B) These posts do exist, but I happened to miss them, and
- they were posted so long ago (over a month ago, perhaps), that my
- newsreader is not able to go back and find them.
-
- If A) is the case, then you can understand my reluctance to believe
- your strange gunshop story, as you have already established a history of
- telling tall tales.
-
- _However_, If B) is the case, then I appologize for responding with
- such a tone, and I would appreciate it if you could let me know the
- name of the poster who had written the joyful penis-worshiping style
- of machine gun description that you were refering too. Perhaps then
- I can find the post in the alt.pagan archive, and I will know that you
- were talking about a real event, rather than a mere fantasy.
-
- I can even e-mail the poster, and ask him why he describes machine guns
- with such loving joy. What was his name again?
-
- >weapons for killing people we are talking about! Just keep that in mind. It's
- >starting to sound as bad as my trip to the gunshop where a greasy man fondled
- >the barrel of a gun he wanted to sell me and talked about how fast it could
- >"spurt" bullets. Not as "potent" as his gun of course, but it can really
- >"spew out the lead". Just sick.
-
- I think you can understand, knowing that if this statement
- represents no situation I have ever seen or heard of in real life, why I
- would have an hard time taking somebody on the net's word for it,
- especialy if it came from someone who had established what could be
- perceieved as a pattern of unreliablility by making in the same post
- a pair of claims that I was able to verify as false.*
-
- * verified by scanning the current articles on my news-server.
- Again, if you were refering to articles from last month, then I
- believe B) may be the case, and I am sorry for my tone.
