  34.     Nope, his E-mail to me detailed the situation. There may have been a 
  35. way out of his *specific* situation, but I don't see it. I am posting this view 
  36. though because a marshal arts teacher I was once instructed by told me that 
  37. there was *no* situation where one could not escape withouth the use of 
  38. violence. The entire class tried to find holes in this and he carefully 
  39. detailed a way out of each one. All involved non-violence and the class was 
  40. taught to us just before a non-violent civil disobedience action.

  42.     I *know* that there must be a way out, but I am not the expert 
  43. in the martial arts that my teacher was and I cannot find it. And that solution 
  44. *does not* mean buying a house in a better neighborhood or living in a 
  45. protective cage, it is simple and direct and occurs in the situation.

  47.     I wish I could remember the name of the marshal art that this 
  48. "avoidance" philosiphy is contained in, but all I remember is the instructor's 
  49. name was Mark and he taught the class in Trukee, CA in 1984 or 1985.
