  13. But when you link power-over with patriarchy and power-from-within
  14. with matriarchy, then you're missing something important.  Patriarchy
  15. is a system where men have the majority of the power.  Matriarchy
  16. is a system where women have the majority of the power.  The assumption
  17. you're making, namely that women in a position of power won't develope
  18. into power-over based creatures, is simply false!

  21. I happen todisagree.  From what I've
  22. read, what survives of matriarchal 
  23. culture shows no signs of the glaring
  24. inequities between the sexes which
  25. patriarchy depends upon for it's 
  26. power and survival.  My sources are 
  27. Raine Eisler, Marjita Gimbutas and 
  28. others.  There have been posts here 
  29. in the past trying to discredit the 
  30. work; I'm of the opinion that you 
  31. either accept their conclusions or 
  32. you don't.  I happen to.

  35. belief; if you choose to see matriarchy
  36. as inevitavbly abusive as patriarchy,
  37. that is your right, and I won't waste
  38. your time trying to change your mind.
