  24. Bill;  It is part of human nature to hate that which you fear.  Twenty
  25. years ago I found the "silent majority" humourous.  As they became less
  26. and less silent my amusement turned to concern.  In the last few years
  27. that concern has been justified by the behavior of many fundamentalist
  28. christians.  It is hard to be forgiving and tolerant of organized groups
  29. who develop think-tanks for the sole purpose of eliminating pagans, liberals,
  30. and homosexuals and other free people from society.  They are validating
  31. any potential paranoia we have.

  33. Unless I am mistaken you attended a Samhain circle at Sweetbriar Farm two
  34. years ago.  Do you remember the night.  Fifty or so celebrants, a light
  35. drizzle and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.  While the ritual
  36. was going on there was a shot far off in the hills.  I watched several
  37. people duck or hit the ground.  The shot was far away and could not have
  38. been aimed at anyone in the circle but there was enough worry about some
  39. of the attitudes of the neighboring farms that people were worried.

  41. That worry leads to hate and intolerance.  Since that time the OCA has
  42. risen to be a force in Oregon politics if not in Corvallis.  There is
  43. no organized general population body to oppose them, and their message
  44. of hate, biogotry and pursecution continues unabated.  The OCA and others
  45. sympathetic to tunnel view of society will continue to preach hate and
  46. fear.

  48. Their is an agenda out there of attack on free thought, civil liberties
  49. and "non-mainstream" lifestyles.  .....hmmmmm I digress from my point.

  51. In short...when you see social, verbal and physical attacks coming from
  52. a particular group you are justified in being unforgiving and intolerant
  53. of their behavior.
