- Total gibberish. My friend and I recorded this into his Macintosh
- (always remember: Macintoshes LIKE to be rebooted) and reversed it
- using Sound Edit. When we played it, we couldn't understand anything,
- except perhaps the word "cookie". Well, this was driving us crazy, so
- my friend sent a letter the They, asking them:
-
- A) What is the secret message on "Hide Away, Folk Family"?
- B) Who is that guy in the videos?
- C) Who are the two dudes on the cover of _Lincoln_?
-
- Anyway, he got a letter back from Flansburgh (hand written, no less) and
- a guitar pick (it had the _Flood_ logo on it, but said "Flans" instead
- of "Flood". While I'm talking about it, am I the only one who has
- noticed that the _Flood_ logo is just the logo for some actors' union or
- something? Look at the end of movies and television shows...you'll see
- it). In the letter, he said that the secret message was total gibberish
- (he said something like "John and I just babbled into the mic while
- recording it backwards"), he told us the name of the guy in the videos
- (a topic much discussed already), and told us the names of the guys on
- _Lincoln_. I seem to remember that one of them was Linnel's
- grandfather, and the other one was Flansburgh's great uncle. Or
- something. I'll e-mail Bill and ask him exactly, though.
