  37. it, hated it.  But, my point was, that in my case, the number of *good* bands
  38. that I've picked up because of mailing lists and newsgroups have far
  39. outnumbered the bad ones.

  47. I agree... we don't need any more idiotic flame wars, but, then again, no Pearl
  48. Jam-loving dork is going to tell me that since I despise the band that I can't
  49. tell people about it.  It does waste bandwidth, but if someone asks for my
  50. opinion, I will respond rationally and at length about why Pearl Ham is simply
  51. Bad Company in wool socks.  It's my opinion, and I'm going to flaunt it
  52. *with*support* if anyone wishes to hear it.  But, we've all been through this
  53. so many times already, that I'd like to let the topic just wind down and die of
  54. its own accord.

  65. I don't want to belabor the point any further, since there have been enough "PJ
  66. rules!" vs. "PJ sux!" posts already.  I could go on and on about how I think
  67. Eddie Vedder is one part Roger Daltrey, one part Mark Lanegan (wannabe) and
  68. three parts utter cheese.  I could talk about how his incessant grunting and
  69. "ugh... ooh... argh..." shit makes me laugh so hard that I cry.  I could go on
  70. and on.  But I won't, since it's all been done before.

  72. Sure, supporting claims of musical taste makes some sort of sense, and I will
  73. go on at length about why I like the bands I like and hate the bands I hate in
  74. personal email, but if someone's asking for opinions, usually just a "yay" or
  75. "nay" will suffice.

  78. can't slag 'em because they like 'em.  Gimme a break.  I expect people to
  79. insult my musical tastes on the net -- who doesn't?
