- Well, if you consider Chicago to be in the South, I guess you could include
- Eleventh Dream Day (Chicago is south of Seattle I suppose).
-
- Anyway - Superchunk is one of the best bands I have ever seen play live.
- You really must go to one of their shows and pogo to them! Supposedly
- they have started this fashion interest in corduroy (seeing that guitarist/
- vocalist Mac wears a lot of it), but that is just some odd story I've
- picked up.
-
- They're from Chapel Hill, NC (i've seen them play a couple great
- shows there) and Mac and Laura (their bassist) run Merge Records out of
- Chapel Hill...and often they release singles on that label. I put
- _No Pocky For Kitty_ at about the same par as their previous CD release,
- _Superchunk_. Both are must haves. The CD compilation of their singles
- is also pretty good, but not as good as those two.
-
- They are currently touring, and whenever I see them live they seem to play
- an incredible amount of unreleased material -- so not only are they great
- on CD and even better live, but they always seem to produce new material
- like there's no tomorrow. THAT is pretty promising.
-
- About this thing that the Triangle area is going to be the next Seattle -
- don't count on it, and to be honest - I sincerely hope not. Polvo,
- Metal Flake Mother, Vanilla Trainwreck, etc. are interesting bands for
- a few bucks, but that's about all in my humble opinion (save Polvo, who
- are quite good in fact).
