- Here I am again, answering my own question. After some more looking
- I have found that there are many public-access boards around the nation.
- Some have a fee, some don't. I found two lists. One was a Usenet
- article named "Public Dialup Internet Access List." I can't remember
- for sure, but I think I found it in alt.bbs. These sites offer Usenet
- and e-mail access. Some people swear that these sites don't have
- ftp and telnet access, but it sounded to me like some of them did.
- Oh yes, the other list I ftp-ed from gvl.unisys.com (128.126.220.104).
- It is in the dir pub/nixpub and the filename is "long." There is also
- a nationwide network of dialup locations called Holonet. You can get
- info on them by mailing to info@holonet.net. Another possibility is
- that many local BBS boards now offer internet mail access (I think some
- of the sites in the list are this type). They also may or maynot
- charge for this.
