  11. I came across the following article in _The Chronicle of Higher
  12. Education_, Nov. 18, 1992, p. A17 in the _On Line_ section.

  15.     A company interested in expanding the commercial use of the Internet
  16.   wants to hear the opinions and gripes of people who use the network.
  17.     Robert Raisch, president of Internet.COM, says his company would
  18.   like to assemble a publically available data base of information
  19.   services that can be obtained on the Internet. Comments from users
  20.   would be used to rate the services.
  21.     The decentralized nature of the Internet has meant that there is
  22.   no central administrator who has a directory of available services,
  23.   Mr. Raisch says. "There is nowhere you, as a consumer, can go to
  24.   complain or simply to learn if other like yourself are pleased with
  25.   a particular service provider," he says.
  26.     Mr. Raisch says he hopes the data base can be available on the 
  27.   Internet in January.
  28.     Users who want to contribute to the survey can send comments to
  29.   NET-SERVICES@CONTROL.COM.

  32. I'd think this could be useful to this group for two reasons:
  33. (i) to send the requested information to them, and (ii) to ask
  34. them to post their data base here (or info on how to get it). To
  35. accomplish this later goal, why not mention this idea if you 
  36. send them any information.

  38. If nothing else, it would be nice just to see a *list* of the 
  39. commercial service providers.
