- The proficient hypnotist has ways of eliciting information without
- providing clues as to what is expected, and then eliciting differing
- perspectives in subsequent sessions to validate the information first

- IME, it works well when never abused. If I need to be especially alert
- after a short night's sleep, I can make a pact with my unconscious (a form
- of self-hypnosis) to get that alertness in return for, say, a promise to
- be in bed by 10 pm that very same day. You can also do this before-the-
- fact, on the evening before you know you're going to have a short night's
- sleep.
-
- IMO, it is not ecological for the entire person to try to reduce sleep
- hours to (say) 2 hours a night from a normal 8 on a regular basis; there
- are important functions of REM sleep, etc., that are essential to well-
- being. So, use it as a temporary expedient, but don't attempt it as
- a long-term practice.
