- One more thing, 6L6's have a much different distortion character than EL-34's.
- I'm not totally sure I like the sound of overdriven 6L6's. There tends to be a
- harsh edge that I keep noticing in different players and amps. Listen to Stevie
- Ray Vaughn for a 6L6 overdrive. I love Stevie a lot, and it worked for him, but
- I hear tonal elements with a lot of similarity in his sound, my sound (a Carvin
- w/ 6L6's, and a local blues guitar player Bob Margolan. When I saw Bob, he was
- playing this Musicman in a club. Bear in mind, I'm not saying we all sound the
- same, just that I could hear this edge in all three of our tones.

- Having said this, I still want a distortion that you can hear a nice clean ring
- through, but I just don't think I'll get it w/ 6L6's.
