  10. I want to recommend Bill Edwards' instruction books Fretboard Logic,
  11. vols. I and II. I've been playing guitar for almost 20 years and
  12. have never encountered anything as clear, rational, helpful, and
  13. generally fantastic as these books.

  15. The subtitle of the series is "The Reasoning Behind the Guitar's
  16. Unique Tuning System," and that really is what they're about. Edwards
  17. explains the interaction of chord _forms_ with _chords_ (they're
  18. two different things) and scales using the entire length of the
  19. fretboard, showing how the patterns repeat themselves, giving you
  20. half a dozen ways to orient yourself anywhere on the fretboard, and
  21. generally dealing with the guitar as a physical instrument rather
  22. than a device for applying abstract music theory.

  24. These books will help any guitarist with any style, except people
  25. who aren't interested in anything outside open position.

  27. The chord book is better than the scale book, though.

  30. elsewhere, though that doesn't mean much since I haven't looked.
