- Maple fingerboards tend to be brighter sounding, with Rosewood fingerboards
- being warmer. Yes the '62 has a thinner neck, the '57 is closer to what is
- called a "boatneck" because it has a deeper "V" and *looks* like a boat.
- Maple fingerboards from Fender are always finished with a lacquer, whereas
- Rosewood fingerboards are almost always left "raw" and unfinished.

- Basically, its a sound difference between the two different kinds of wood. I've
- owned both...I'll take a couple of each....
