- Go for it ! I started taking lessons for the first time about
- 2 years ago when I was 31 and I wish I had started earlier. I've
- learned more in 2 years than in all the years I played previously
- (about 6-7 years). I started to learn how to sight-read but lost
- patience and decided to concentrate on technique and theory.
- There is so much tab available now it is not essential to know
- how to sight read, but you should have a cursory knowledge of
- standard music notation, just to understand key signatures, time
- values, etc. Lessons are great for getting fresh ideas and
- new techniques. Just make sure you find a teacher who shares
- your musical interests.
