  11. I must apologize pubically for the content of my message in which I
  12. flamed the choices of one posters top 10 goth albums...  It was
  13. extrmeley rude and inconsiderate.  For some reason, I convinced my
  14. stoned brain, at the time, that the poster was picking these albums as
  15. a list of the essential goth albums...  In a sobering reality, I
  16. realize now that this instead is a request for more suggestions in
  17. addition to the list.  So here I am to apologize for my harsh words
  18. and to offer a few more lucid suggestions....
  19.  
  20. Music for gothic minded people
  21.   As I mentioned earlier:
  22.     Bauhaus - Press the Eject and Give me the Tape...
  23.         To me, this is the quintessential Bauhaus work.  It
  24.         encompasses all the early styles in an amzing live
  25.         performance.  Stigamata Martyr is so pure and so raw.
  26.         Back this up with the performances of Hollowed Hills,
  27.         Rose Garden Funeral of Sores, and Bela Lugousi's Dead,
  28.         and you have one incredible, melt into your furniture 
  29.         performance.
  30.     Bauhaus - In the Flat Field.
  31.         This album contains most of the excellent songs from
  32.         Press in their studio formats.  And also adds the
  33.         incredible song Nerves.  This is one is essential for
  34.         your listening pleasure.
  35.     Diamanda Galas - Litanies of Satan...
  36.         No goth does not neccesarily == satianism.  But this
  37.         Is definitely possessed music.  Check it out for
  38.         Short periods of time.  Otherwise you might go crazy.
  39.         It is quite good though.
  40.   Other suggestions...
  41.     Gregorian Chants
  42.         Don't know any specific albums but most are tasty...
  43.     Christian Death
  44.         Early Christian death is hard to approximate.
  45.     Shubert Trio
  46.         I think it is opus 100 or 111.  A little on the
  47.         repetive side but it is an incredibly beautiful piece.
  48.         If you have seen the Hunger, then you would probably 
  49.         recognize this piece as it is a trio for piano, cello 
  50.         and violin.  This is the sorrowful 
  51.         composition played by Bowie, Deneuve, and the young 
  52.         girl.  Brilliant music, but it could be edited better.
  53.     Organ music
  54.         Bach fugues, etc...  Must be Gothic since it can only
  55.         be played in big European Cathedrals right?
  56.     Beethoven's Piano Sonata opus 27 nr2. 1st and 3rd movements?
  57.         Does extreme sorrow, and extreme rage == goth?
  58.         If so, this should definitely qualify!

  60. I must again apologize for letting myself post whilst under the
  61. influence of mind altering drugs... Remember kids, don't drive Usenet
  62. while drugged...  There is a lot of music I can recommend as tasty,
  63. but I'm not sure how gothic it all is...  The artists that I have in
  64. mind are of the same genre that we have been talking about, but it is
  65. definitely on the fringes of Goth music.  I think I'll take those sort
  66. of recommendations to Rec.music.industrial since they definitely
  67. belong there.
