- [do I think a 2 hander should do more damage than a SMG]
-
- I base that statement on the observation that a hit from a 2 handed sword
- swung in anger will virtually always be fatal (or at least require major
- surgery--to the tune of reattaching a limb--to repair). A hit from a SMG,
- on the other hand from a respectable range (say about the top end of short
- range for most such guns) can be quite survivable, depending on where the
- shot hit and how many rounds were taken. Also, someone clobbered by a 2-
- hander will probably be stopped cold; whereas there are quite a few documented
- cases of charging combatants continuing to disembowel troops armed with
- automatic rifles after having been shot several times.
- The main advantage of a gun is not so much its superior damage as its
- improved range over hand weapons.
