- Years ago there was a bug in some versions of the news software that
- caused articles beginning with whitespace to have initial blocks of text
- deleted. Long after the bug was fixed, a large percentage of all news
- postings continued to exhibit bracketed "line-eater-proof" first lines
- like the one above.
