  23. In August, Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is at its best. Stroll in the
  24. ancient alleys of the  Old Town, in the shadow of the  Royal Castle. Visit
  25. the  Royal Garden island with the world famous outdoor museum  Skansen and
  26. the 17th century warship Wasa.
  27.   Below the City Hall with its three crowns on top  (se above), famous for
  28. hosting the Nobel banquets, you can see Stockholmers sailing on surfboards
  29. or fishing for  salmon,  in the cleanest  downtown waters  of any European
  30. capital.  This is  also  the time for the  international  Stockholm  Water
  31. Festival,  with concerts,  shows,  theatre,  exhibitions,  shopping areas,
  32. fireworks in the evenings, and lots of other things.
  33.   This is  also when we arrange  Conscience 93.  You get Stockholm at  its
  34. best  -  and we hope to give you a convention at its best. Planning is yet
  35. in early stages, but here are some details:
  36.   * Foreign Guest of Honour  will be Jerry Pournell,  famous sf author and
  37. long time columnist in Byte Magazine (Computing in Chaos Manor-column).
  38.   * Because of  the GoH  many program items will  deal with  computers and
  39. science fiction: cyberspace, virtual reality, new electronic media, etc.
  40.   * Conscience 93  will also host a  constituting meeting for a  Baltic SF
  41. Convention Society,  which will arrange yearly  "Balticons", and we expect
  42. many foreign visitors from countries around the Baltic Sea.
  43.   * The program will be in English to a  considerable degree (e g no films
  44. are dubbed) and Swedes do speak reasonably good English.
  45.   * The program  will of course  have all the usual:  panels, exhibitions,
  46. films, bar, shows, bookroom - you name it!
  47.   * Fees are not decided, but will be around 50 dollars. (Eastern European
  48. fans get free memberships - you should contact us in advance, since we can
  49. make other special arrangements, e g free housing and subsidized tickets.)
