- Yes, I forgive him. He's dead. :-)

- It _was_ his desire for the Ring that led him to try to take it (foolish,
- to be sure; didn't he think that Frodo would just put it on and run off?)
- Certainly Boromir thought that the Ring would be good for Gondor (again,
- a bit foolish); possibly a rationalization, but I find it is very hard to say
- that Boromor is intrinsically evil (most men have some evil).
- I believe he was a good man in hard times; certainly, he was not a saint, but
- then who is? Especially when tempted with evil (masquerading as good) of such
- proportions.

- And even if he were considered evil by attempting to take the ring, the good he
- did in trying to defend the rest of the party from Orcs makes up for it. (Although,
- could that be a death wish? :-)
