-
- Then why didn't the American people vote for it, instead of the evil,
- communist, pinko-PC-fascist-liberal Democratic Party which represents
- foreign, alien, evil feelings, ideas, and values? Oh, wait, here it comes.

-
- All right, so given that those rotten, nasty Democrats are responsible
- for the global economic downturn (as well as increasing crime, the wave
- of deadly natural disasters, and the world comic book glut) then why,
- in the name of Shiva, did the American people elect -- wait for it --
- a *DEMOCRAT* to the Presidency? Is Bill Clinton less likely to cooperate
- with the Democrats in Congress than George Bush was? Somehow, I just don't
- see that. Please explain. Ah, wait a minute, it's below a bit.

-
- Heh. George Bush was what was wrong with this country, IMHO... well, no,
- that's being unfair to Bush; he was just a timeserving party hack. Most
- of the blame falls to Reagan and his insane deficit spending. But that's
- neither here nor there; I'm sure it's being hashed over [and over...] in
- another thread here as we speak.

-
- Ah, here's why the vast Republican masses favored Clinton over Bush...
-
- > Because George Bush let us down... Yes... I don't think people realize

-
- So basically the contention is that the American people made a mistake?
- Fair 'nuff. However, this statement in and of itself does not lend any d
- credence to claims that the Republicans are more in touch. I repeat, if they
- were in touch, they would have WON. (They were definitely in touch in 1980,
- ferexample, goofy as Reagan was.)

-
- I think his promise was to halve the deficit in 5 years. It might be possible;
- I'll freely admit to being a bit dubious. Nevertheless, I didn't vote for
- Clinton for deficit reduction. I voted for him for health care, improved
- support for science and technology, and a non-silly government.
-
- > Bill

-
- Assuming there isn't another Great Depression (and even the most panicky
- Republican doomsayers have to admit it's unlikely to be that bad in four
- years) Clinton's re-election is assured. The GOP has crippled itself by
- handing over control to the religious-right fanatics. In '96 they'll nominate
- some wacko like Buchanan or Quayle, and get stomped.
-
- (Pity that, too. Kemp vs. Clinton would be a good race to watch, and you'd
- have the added pleasure of knowing that no matter who won, someone competent
- would be running the country.)
-
- "But Dr. Radium, was that necessary?" "Rez, _everything_ I do is necessary."
