- It's funny: the response to APF is great when it comes to annotations
- and discussions, but whenever I try to bring up a meta-issue all I
- hear is silence.
-
- Usually I take this to mean that I can simply do whatever I want (fine
- by me!) but for this particular problem I would really like some
- input.
-
- So I hope you will forgive me for again asking the following questions:
-
- [Q1] "How do you like the current lay-out of the APF?"
- [Q2] "What format should I use for the next version?"
-
- The second question is particularly urgent. V4.0 was already too large
- to post in its entirety, and this will only get worse. But there are
- so many ways to solve this problem.
-
- - I can just encode and split up a one-volume APF and leave it up to
- you to connect stuff together again (e.g. using shar-files? uuencoded
- files? Something else?)
-
- - I can also logically split up the APF into smaller parts, e.g.
- Discworld/ Non-Discworld, or one file for each book, and simply post
- those as normal text.
-
- - Not post at all anymore, and just post pointers to an ftp-site and
- to the mailing list.
-
- So what would you people out there like best? Any possibilities I have
- missed? And while you're at it think about the first question, too: is
- the APF readable enough? Do you want more whitespace? Less whitespace?
- Dividers between annotations? Is the introductory section too large?
- Too short? Should I rearrange the sections?
-
- As the dratted thing grows and grows I find that editing is starting
- to take up *lots* of time. That's perfectly ok, I still enjoy doing
- it, but as long as I'm spending that time, I might as well spend it on
- something that I know you readers can live with (and ideally: approve
- of).
-
- Thanks for helping me with this,
-
