- Summary: Yes they can... but why?
-
- According to the basic DragonRiders trilogy and DragonsDawn,
- Greens *are* naturally fertile ("flirtile"? :-). --==*> However...
- Chewing firestone causes infertility (temporary? permanent?) in green
- dragons, but no mention of such infertility is made about firelizards.
- The basic trilogy defined in no uncertain terms that the reason that
- golds are never allowed firestone is because they would become infertile.
- (Lessa never seemed to think this was 'fair'.)
-
- The reasons people sneer at the idea of a green laying eggs are:
-
- 1.) Green *firelizards* are too stupid to effectively protect their
- clutches from tunnelsnakes... that's why they "never" hatch.
- In DragonsDawn, some were salvaged before the tunnelsnakes got
- them, and hatched, but they produced smaller 'dragonettes'.
-
- 2.) A green's offspring would likely be both smaller *and* less
- intelligent, going backwards in their genetic development.
