- For some reason (probably either due to an idea by McCaffrey or her
- publishers), it seems that McCaffrey has recently been
- writing books with a whole string of women writers. The six books so
- far are all connected to some of McCaffrey's earlier works, and are:
-
- Sassinak (with Elizabeth Moon)
- The Death of Sleep (with Jody Lynn Nye)
- Generation Warriors (with Elizabeth Moon)
- Crisis on Doona (with Jody Lynn Nye)
- Partnership (with Margaret Ball)
- The Ship who Searched (with Mercedes Lackey)
-
- It seemed like she might have been doing this to give some new
- female authors more name recognition, but this doesn't seem
- to wash with her writing a book with Lackey. Nye (Mythology 101,
- etc) and Moon (Sheepfarmer's Daughter, Divided Allegiances, Oath
- of Gold, Surrender None, Liar's Oath, and one other) both are
- published authors. I have not seen any books out by Ball yet.
-
- Interestingly enough, I personally thought Sassinak was far worse
- than any books done individually by either Moon or McCaffrey,
- defying my usual rule of thumb on colaborations - that it's as bad
- as the material written by the poorer author. Of course, I read
- Sassinak before I realized that it was going to be followed up
- by Generation Warriors.
