- Harry Chapin was a folk singer in the 70's. He's dead, unfortunately
- (very), but he did great things when he was alive and fighting to end
- world hunger (along with other good causes). Things like donating over
- half of his concerts to world hunger fund. You almost definitly know a
- couple of his songs, like "Cats in the Cradel" or "30,000 tons of
- Bananas" (Harry, that sucks). The rest of his stuff is pretty amazing,
- though. There's a double CD set, Harry Chapin, the gold metal
- collection, which I own. It was put together after he died and has
- little iserts of him talking between songs. These get pretty serious at
- times (as do some of his songs), but it's still a great album. It has
- most of his best songs, except 30,000 tons of Bananas. Not unlike
- Jimmy, it's hard to listen to Harrry Chapin and not start thinking about
- what the songs say, then about yourself and life in general. (and soon
- after a nice bottle of rum).
- If you haven' heard him, definitly check it out. Think about how
- you were before you heard of Jimmy. And the worst part is, we didn't
- even realize we were missing anything!
