  18. More than just plot devices.  I recall some scenes and text reproduced
  19. in some stories.  Especially scenes at the start of the stories, with
  20. Holmes and Watson sitting around together.

  22. I believe, but would not swear to it, that one of these was the replay
  23. of the August Dupin bit of telling a person what he is thinking after
  24. observing him for five minutes or so.
