- More than just plot devices. I recall some scenes and text reproduced
- in some stories. Especially scenes at the start of the stories, with
- Holmes and Watson sitting around together.

- I believe, but would not swear to it, that one of these was the replay
- of the August Dupin bit of telling a person what he is thinking after
- observing him for five minutes or so.
