- I will probably get flamed for saying so, but some of
- the stories are better than others. Doyle wrote Holmes
- stories to pay the rent--a sort of literary cash cow--
- and some were rather poorly crafted, while others are
- gems. I, for one, don't worry much about what's good
- and what's bad. I just enjoy the stories and the
- characters as a pleasant diversion.
